JEFF GOES BACK TO WYOMING!!

After our South Dakota trip, I headed back to Whitetail Creek Outfitters (www.WhitetailCreek.com) to try to fill my Antelope tag.  We just had a couple of days so I decided to try out the rifle.

This go around I was being guided by Brad (one of the owners of Whitetail Creek Outfitters).  Day 1 started off very exciting.  We spotted a monster Pronghorn with two other smaller bucks feeding in an open field.  We came up with a game plan to try a stalk.  Once we got in position, it just so happen the buck I was after was right on top of a hill about 250 yards away.  It was not a safe shot due to the background, so we patiently waited…and waited…and waited.  That darn thing would not cooperate and just stayed on the very top of the rise.  We could not move, because of the open terrain, so we just held tight.  Long story short, the trophy ended up crossing on to the neighbors and we were out of luck.

Day two had us spotting lots of Antelope, but just could not find one big enough…until we spotted a nice buck drop off into this canyon.  We ended up belly crawling up to the edge of the canyon and spotted a smaller buck & the bigger buck feeding @ about 325 yards.  I got set up and squeezed off a shot and the big Pronghorn hit the ground.  Brad and I both were both shocked and then excited.  I have never claimed to be a long range rifle shot, so 325 yards is a long ways to this bowhunter.

That was a great finish to my Wyoming trip.  Thank you Brad and Keith for a great hunt!
