SOUTH DAKOTA

I apologize for being so far behind.  I have been hunting for almost a solid 60 days.

South Dakota

October 17th, my Dad and I got a chance to bowhunt southcentral South Dakota.  Jim Call (www.CalloftheWildOutfitter.homestead.com 620 727 1444) lined us up on the property and told me they have turkey hunted the area and saw a lot of deer.  My main goal on this trip was to get me Dad his first bow kill.

We met up with land owner, Kelly Riser, and got a quick tour of the property.  We picked out a couple of good spots to hang our Ol’Man Treestands (www.OlManOutdoors.com).  Right at daylight on the 3rd day of the hunt, Dad had a young 10 point that was headed his way.  Dad was not going to be picky being it was going to be his first bow harvest, so when the buck came by at 15 yards he pulled back his DeadZone Bow (www.Limbsaver.com) and made a perfect shot.  The buck disappeared in a standing corn field, so Dad decided to wait on me before tracking.

When I pulled up, I was unaware of anything, until I looked and noticed a VForce arrow (www.VictoryArchery.com) was missing.  Dad and Mat (camera guy) were trying to pull a fast one on me, but after noticing a VForce arrow missing, I started to snoop around and found it stuck in the ground coated with sign from Muzzy (www.Muzzy.com) to Firenock (www.Firenock.com).  They finally gave me the scoop and about 100 yards into the corn field Dad had recovered his first bow harvest.  He was pumped and so was I!!

After that experience, Dad is now hooked on bowhunting.  Congrats Dad on your first deer with a bow!!
